Curtis Kebler represents Reliant Energy's business interests in California and the Western region before a wide range of regulatory, legislative and industry forums. Reliant is an international energy services and delivery company with power-generation assets and wholesale trading and marketing operations across the U.S. and Western Europe.
Kebler (pronounced Keebler) is an expert on the market rules of the California Independent System Operator and the California Power Exchange, of which he is now a member of the governing board. He has been involved in the energy business for nearly 15 years, with experience in the design, operation, and performance of California's natural gas and electric power markets.
Kebler previously served as product development director for the California Power Exchange. He was involved in the start-up and initial operation of CalPX and supported its market research and product development activities. He also represented CalPX on matters involving the CalSO and other industry organizations involved in electricity restructuring.
He began his career as a nuclear engineer at Southern California Edison Co. He later supported SoCal Edison's efforts to restructure the state's natural gas industry and, later, its electricity industry.
Kebler has a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a member of the governing board of the California Power Exchange, and a member of the board of directors of the Western Power Trading Forum and the Independent Energy Producers Association.
