CHICAGO — Rapid prototyping and tooling company Bastech Inc. has merged its two facilities into one location.
The company had been looking to consolidate its operations for more than a year. It finally settled on a 22,000-square-foot building in Vandalia, Ohio, near the site of the two other locations in the Dayton area. Bastech shifted to the new plant in February.
Both of the other buildings were about 5,000 square feet, said Bastech sales manager Claude Campbell, interviewed March 6 during the National Design Engineering Show & Conference in Chicago.
"This gives us the space to add more equipment," he said. "We've already started to do that."
The company has added a Van Dorn Demag injection press with a clamping force of 230 tons. The press will conduct mold tryouts and produce low-volume parts, Campbell said.
The engineering company has 38 employees, including three added after the move.
