CHICAGO — R.S. Tool Inc. has added custom profile extrusion to its array of skills.
The Norton, Ohio-based tooling and in-line fabrication shop established a separate company, Extru-Fab Inc., in December to make vinyl extruded products and other parts.
The new company will manufacture custom profiles for R.S. Tool's customer base, said R.S. Tool President Paul Shoenfelt, interviewed March 6 at the National Design Engineering Show & Conference in Chicago.
"It's another rung on the ladder," Shoenfelt said. "We currently design and tool products for our customers. We're hoping to pass savings to customers by doing the extrusion work, too."
The company purchased an NRM 21/2-inch, single-screw extruder in December to perform the profile work. Extru-Fab invested more than $100,000 in the equipment and added two employees at its 10,000-square-foot plant.
The company also provides custom and special extrusion machinery, computer-aided-design programs, wire electric discharge machining capabilities and dies and stampings.
