SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — Bausano Group SpA of Varese, Italy, participated for the first time as a local equipment supplier at Brasilplast this year. The company installed a $2 million facility in Sao Paulo in mid-2000 and began delivering made-in-Brazil product lines in December.
In Italy, Bausano manufactures single- and twin-screw extrusion lines, and downstream equipment for pipes and profiles. Its Italian plants are in Torino and Varese.
The Sao Paulo facility makes single-screw and twin-screw lines. Bausano's equipment is mainly for processing PVC, polypropylene and polyethylene.
Before establishing the new plant, Bausano had sold machines in Brazil through a sales agent. The agent had sold about 100 machines in the past nine years, according to Vice President Florio Roccon.
Compounders and profile extruders are key local customers, including the Brazilian subsidiary of Tessenderlo Group of Brussels, Belgium.
