SKC Ltd. of Seoul, South Korea, said it planned to establish a PET film plant in Covington, Ga., partly to get around anti-dumping duties imposed on some exports to the United States. SKC started production at the facility in summer of 1999.
Eventual use of polyethylene naphthalate in beer and other packaging was assured by approval of the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA issued a letter of nonobjection to Eastman Chemical Co. for homopolymer PEN.
