ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILL. — Custom compounder Colors For Plastics Inc. added its third Farrel twin-screw compounding line recently in Elk Grove Village and plans to install a similar line in Spartanburg, S.C., in mid-2002.
The Spartanburg line will be Elk Grove Village-based CFP's 19th. The firm employs about 100 at two plants in Elk Grove Village and Spartanburg. Each line is expected to add about 5 million pounds annual capacity.
CFP Vice President Robert Dalleska credited the new lines with sustaining CFP's growth. The lines have given CFP 15 percent greater productivity than others it operates.
"We can get orders out more quickly, and that's the main thing customers want," he said.
CFP's sales hit $16 million in 2000, a jump of about 7 percent from the previous year. Housewares and lawn and garden supplies are CFP's fastest-growing end markets, while drums and containers remain the largest applications using CFP compounds, Dalleska said. Pre-color compounds and liquid color products also are showing steady growth, he said.
