COLUMBUS, OHIO — Gary P. Weber, vice president of business development with CIT Equipment Financing, died April 2 from complications encountered during angioplasty surgery. He was 51.
Weber specialized in financing capital equipment in the plastics industry and worked with hundreds of plastic processors during his 21-year tenure.
"He literally put people in business in the plastics industry," said Greg Winchester, vice president of sales for CIT's vendor and equipment finance division.
Winchester said that Weber, who was based in Columbus, was instrumental in educating an internal process team about the plastics industry.
Weber directly handled the account of Van Dorn Demag Corp. in Strongsville, Ohio, for more than 10 years and, according to Van Dorn credit manager Richard F. Neumann, "was not the type to be satisfied with the status quo."
"He would always try to create new and creative ways to bring out the financing," Neumann said.
Weber was a University of Wisconsin graduate. A Columbus native, he is survived by his wife, Laurie, and two sons.
