MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO — PolyOne Distribution Canada Inc. has opened a new distribution center, the firm announced at Plast-Ex 2001 in Mississauga.
In the three years PolyOne has been warehousing plastic materials in Canada, the company has grown to need its own dedicated warehouse, according to General Manager David Ellis. PolyOne moved its office and warehousing into the Mississauga facility early in April, Ellis said at the show.
The company is leasing a 60,000-square-foot building that will help it provide technical assistance through the whole range of product development and production, Ellis said. The firm formerly rented separate office and warehouse space in Mississauga.
PolyOne Distribution Canada formerly was called M.A. Hanna Distribution Canada Inc., before last year's merger of Geon Co. and M.A. Hanna Co. to create compounding giant PolyOne Corp., headquartered in Cleveland.
The Mississauga operation is distributing thermoplastic materials compounded at other PolyOne plants, and prime resin made by resin majors. It is the hub of PolyOne's Canadian distribution network using rented warehouse space at several locations.
Hanna announced its push into Canada at the previous Plast-Ex trade show three years ago. PolyOne Corp. has annual sales of $3.5 billion in compounds, specialty resins and engineered films.
