AKRON, OHIO (April 27, 2001) — What better place to host a trade show dedicated to the plastics industry than in the heart of the plastics industry?
"With the Midwest the #1 region in the U.S. plastics industry, Cleveland is a natural place to bring together everyone in the plastics industry – from processors to OEMs and across all end-use markets," says Linda Whelan, director of trade shows and marketing for Plastics Encounter.
Crain Communications Inc., publisher of Plastics News, the leading industry publication, purchased the Western Plastics Expo and Plastics Fair from Advanstar Communications last year and has relaunched the shows under a new name and philosophy. Having just completed its inaugural show in Los Angeles April 10-12, Plastics Encounter will head to the I-X Center, adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19 and 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We are hosting the Plastics Encounter trade shows in the hottest areas of the country for plastics," Whelan continues, "and the Midwest and city of Cleveland are definite hot spots." Other reasons why the Midwest is such an important area for plastics:
Over 7,300 plastics facilities
More than 558,000 plastics industry professionals
Key buyers from Ohio (#2 plastics state), Michigan (#3), Illinois (#4), Pennsylvania (#6), Indiana (#7) and New York (#8)
$104 billion in plastics shipments
"We believe that Cleveland will be a draw for attendees and exhibitors," Whelan continues, "because it's truly in the 'heart of it all' for business and pleasure."
In addition to more than 150 exhibits and unique networking opportunities, the show will feature a world-class, on-site business conference as well as concurrent, two-day extrusion and injection molding simulation/troubleshooting training seminars.
Trade-show attendees can preregister for free online at www.plasticsencounter.com/ cleveland. On-site show registration fee is $25. The mornings-only business conference costs $395 for a three-day pass, or $195 for one day (see the full agenda online). Call
