A 28-year industry veteran, Dave Brown now heads the 330-employee, $52 million StackTeck Systems Inc., one of North America's largest mold makers.
Brown worked as a mold design engineer before joining Rexdale, Ontario's Tradesco Mold Ltd. in a similar capacity in 1978. He rose through the ranks there, serving as engineering manager and then VP of technical services. Brown became Tradesco's president in 1997, the year after New York merchant bank Castle Harlan Partners II bought the firm. The new owners then named Brown president and CEO of StackTeck Systems (www.stackteck.com), the holding company it created for Tradesco and its other acquisitions – Fairway Molds Inc. of Los Angeles and Unique Mould Makers Ltd. of Scarborough, Ontario.
Tradesco makes stack molds and hot-runner molds for thin-wall packaging and other products, while Unique specializes in tooling for caps and closures, and Fairway focuses on multicavity molds for consumer products.
