Dave Outlaw has overall managerial and financial responsibility for Precise Technology Inc.'s St. Petersburg, Fla., plant, which specializes in the injection molding of packaging, medical and industrial products.
The Columbus, Ohio, native worked as mold designer from 1972-80 before becoming engineering manager for Ethyl Corp. in St. Petersburg. In 1988, Outlaw was named product development manager for the packaging group of Tredegar Molded Products, which was spun out of Ethyl. Four years later he became the St. Petersburg plant's technical manager, and in 1996, when Precise bought Tredegar's molding operations, he assumed his current role.
Outlaw has formulated and implemented aggressive training programs at the plant. These include a recent project, executed in conjunction with the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc., that secured and applied state grant funds to expand an on-site training facility now being used to do satellite training not only of Precise employees, but also workers from other Florida molding companies.
