CANAL FULTON, OHIO - With one factory and eight employees, James Waring has big plans: During the next two years, he plans to invest $500,000 in expansions in the United States and Canada.
His business, New Image Plastics Manufacturing Co., custom extrudes rods for several end markets, including plumbing, irrigation, municipal water and sewer, furniture and the food industry. He processes several types of resin, including high density polyethylene, PVC and polypropylene.
The plan sounds aggressive, he admits, but is practical: He's putting small sites in widespread places so he won't have to ship everything from Canal Fulton.
``I don't want to take it too fast,'' Waring said in a May 23 telephone interview. ``I want to space it out.''
The first of those sites will be in Wells, Nev., where he plans to begin in eight months with five lines and three to five employees. Each subsequent plant in Canada and Alabama will be the same size at about 3,000 square feet, he said.
New Image Plastics reported 2000 profile sales of $500,000 and has been in operation since 1996.
