MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS - Cantex Inc. will add a 128,000-square-foot distribution warehouse by July 31 and will convert a former 80,000-square-foot facility into fabrication space.
``It's a whole way of going to business with customers ordering on the Internet,'' said Dennis Stuhlman, vice president of materials and production planning for the PVC pipe and fittings manufacturer. ``We wanted to have a platform for that.''
Although he couldn't disclose how much they're investing in the expansion, he said the warehouse is a multi-million dollar portion of the planning and warehouse management system project.
Plastics News estimated Cantex's 2000 sales at $200 million. The firm, a subsidiary of Japan-based Sumitomo Group, has pipe manufacturing facilities in Aurora, Ohio; Rolla, Mo.; Auburndale, Fla.; and Reno, Nev.
