Victrex USA Inc. has introduced a polyetheretherketone grade designed for semiconductor production equipment.
E grade PEEK has low levels of ions such as sodium to protect against damage during etching and other semiconductor processes. The Greenville, S.C., firm claimed sodium levels of 25 parts per million or less compared with 350 ppm or more for competing polyphenylene sulfide compounds. Victrex said applications include clamp rings, retaining rings, screws and hardware, where the company said it lasts longer than PPS.
