Foster Corp. has developed low-friction urethane compounds for medical applications such as surgical tubing assemblies.
The Dayville, Conn., firm claimed its new product has less than a third the friction of unmodified urethanes with the same tensile strength and elongation, unlike urethanes modified with poly tetrafluoroethylene that usually lose physical properties. Foster´s lubrication system also has no adverse effect on adhesion and improves processing.
