NFM/Welding Engineers has started building twin-screw compounding extruders in Europe through its subsidiary NFM Iddon.
The first European-made machine was delivered to Whitaker Technical Plastics Ltd.´s new factory in Macclesfield, England.
NFM/Welding Engineers, of Massillon, Ohio, bought rubber equipment maker Iddon Bros. Ltd. in Leyland, England, two years ago. The TEM-SS compounding extruder Iddon built for Whitaker Technical Plastics Ltd. has a screw diameter of 58 millimeters. The machine was commissioned in March.
This is the first machine of this type to be supplied by NFM Iddon following the recently extended licensing agreement between NFM/Welding Engineers and Toshiba Machine Co. Ltd. of Japan. NFM makes all major components except for the Toshiba-built gearboxes.
