NAPERVILLE, ILL. - The American Society of Business Publication Editors gave Plastics News its top honor for ``enterprising, on-site editorial coverage'' for the show dailies that PN produced at NPE 2000 in Chicago.
The 60,000-circulation Plastics News was the national contest's only Gold Award winner in either size category (publications with circulation below 80,000 and above 80,000) for on-site trade show coverage. The journalism association's 23rd annual awards competition honors editorial, graphics and online editorial excellence.
Naperville-based ASBPE noted that its competition ``recognizes the hard work and commitment of business and professional magazine and Web editors and designers. Such an award is a most prestigious acknowledgement that your work is at the top of your profession and that it has met high standards of excellence.''
Plastics News published 27 original, show-floor photos and generated on-site in Chicago nearly two-thirds of the stories and more than half of the editorial column inches that it published in its three 72-page NPE show dailies.
``Our entire staff works extremely hard, and we aim to raise the bar for show dailies at each NPE,'' said PN editor/associate publisher Robert Grace. ``It's rewarding to have that effort and result acknowledged by a leading journalism organization.''
