Plast-Control of Newburyport, Mass., is introducing the Pro-Scan, noncontact, non-nuclear scanning gauge to check sheet thickness to an accuracy of 1 micron.
The device uses two traversing measuring sensors, one on each side of the sheet. Software compares the movement of each sensing head, in real time.
Pro-Scan can measure sheet widths between 31 inches to 78 inches, depending on the type of frame used.
General Manager Matt Bangert said the new scanning system is a lower-priced alternative to nuclear-based, contact systems.
