Patt Filtration Inc. developed a type of breaker plate for use with its Rotary III, constant pressure-drop, continuous-flow filtration systems.
Called Corr-Ex, the breaker plate has a wave-shape machined into its upstream side. When used with a screen pack of a corresponding shape, the active area of filtration increases more than 60 percent — with the same total size as a conventional plate.
The company in St. Eustache, Quebec, makes five basic models, ranging in throughput from 50-30,000 pounds an hour.
Patt said Rotary III units with Corr-Ex are being used in compounding and pipe extruding.
