Vulcan Machinery Corp. of Akron, Ohio, introduced two pieces of extrusion downstream equipment, an air wiper and a coiler.
The Dual WRU Series Water Removal Unit removes water from high-speed strand extrusions, after it leaves the cooling process and prior to granulation. A remote air knife removes most of the cooling water. Then a vacuum is applied to remove any residual moisture. Vulcan said the device is 40-50 percent more efficient than using a positive air pressure knife alone.
The Custom SLC Series Coiler can simultaneously process four independent reels mounted on a common, differential-type winding shaft. A guide separates incoming profiles before coiling.
