GUELPH, ONTARIO - Injection press maker Engel Machinery Inc. of Guelph has introduced a new generation of servo robots and a long-lasting line of screws, tips and nonreturn valves.
The E-Series robot boasts a compact structure and an improved controller. The robot offers up to six independently programmable servo-driven axes - three linear and three rotational. Engel has cut the length of the linear arms without compromising available stroke, so the robot fits into small areas with low ceilings.
Engel said its Marathon line of components can handle abrasive filler content of up to 70 percent, can work at temperatures up to 450ø F and runs corrosive resins such as polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated PVC, and ABS, and additives such as flame retardants and foaming agents.
Engel said its Marathon technology leads to lower adhesion between melt and metal than other steel surfaces.
The components were developed by Engel's Advanced Materials Laboratory in Steyr, Austria. The manufacturing uses proprietary processes, such as using high-powered lasers to modify certain sections of the metal components.
