SPRINGFIELD, VT. - Leesburg, Va.-based Rehau Inc. is expanding its Springfield tool and die facility with 3,500 additional square feet of production space and newly remodeled administrative offices.
Although officials would not disclose how much they are investing in the project, they will add one computer numerically controlled milling machine and a wire electric discharge machine.
``We're still in the process,'' said George Trombly, plant manager, in an Aug. 9 interview. ``We're hoping to have it complete by the end of August. That's the target.
``There will be no immediate impact on jobs, but because of the plant shop expansion, there should be a positive long-term effect.''
Currently, the firm employs nearly 30 in manufacturing and engineering. Rehau has five other locations in North America.
The company manufactures more than 40,000 component parts for several industries, including building and construction, heating and plumbing, agriculture and automotive.
The firm had estimated North American pipe, profile and tubing sales of $180 million in the most recent Plastics News ranking.
