S.W. Filtration Inc., which makes large-area type filter systems used in compounding, polymer production and other forms of extrusion, has introduced an affordable cartridge filter for fibers operations: the Moduloscreen.
The filter handles up to 4,400 pounds of material an hour. The compact system lets processors adjust the flux rate, filter life and residence time, depending on the throughput, micron rating and product. It also can filter several polymers from different extruders simultaneously. Hydraulic ram-type valves allow continuous extrusion while other filter elements are being replaced or cleaned.
A modular design allows up to three single-filter-element housings to be added to a common base.
S.W. Filtration, based in Anderson, S.C., is the U.S. headquarters of Southwest Screens & Filters S.A. of Sprimont, Belgium.
S.W. Filtration also said it is working with JLS International Inc., a firm in Charlotte, N.C., to expand its filter business globally.
The firm makes its products in Belgium and Jakarta, Indonesia.
