Comet Automation Systems Inc., an auxiliary equipment manufacturer in Dayton, Ohio, has created an Optical Disc Division to target that new market.
Comet is partnering with Lanco of Hanau, Germany, which makes dryers for the compact disc industry. The new Comet/Lanco modular dryers are designed for audio-CD, CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-MO formats, as well as the digital-versatile-disc format.
Comet named Sam Raj-kovich sales manager for the division.
Also, Comet introduced the CE-1000 weigh color feeder. The screw-metering unit is designed for precise metering of powders and color concentrates into the feed throat of a machine.
The CE-1000 comes in two versions. The SM-D has a step motor for injection presses. The DC-D uses a direct-current drive motor for extruders. For changing colors or cleaning, the entire module is removed from the machine.
