LOSSBURG, GERMANY - Number 13 will be lucky for buyers of small and midsize injection presses, according to Arburg GmbH + Co., which will show 13 machines at K 2001 (Hall 13, Stand A 13).
Highlighting the booth will be the German company's first step toward a new hybrid-type of technology by showing the Allrounder 420 A 800-350. The five-point toggle-clamp press can use hydraulic and electromechanical drive concepts in a single machine.
In the basic version, all of the main axes are driven by servomotors. Auxiliary movements, such as the ejector, core pulls and nozzle, can be moved individually either by hydraulics or electric, depending on the application.
Lossburg-based Arburg said that a fully electric version is possible because the system enables the press to be expanded by adding more modules.
Arburg points out that the press can run molds with hydraulic core pull by selecting hydraulic operation for the corresponding drives. At K, the company will mold bottle preforms on one of the new machines.
Also at the show, Arburg will demonstrate the Multilift robot.
Another press, an Allrounder 720 S, with 350 tons of clamping force, will feature a position-controlled screw, a hydraulic needle-type shut-off nozzle, two core pulls and the core feature of the firm's modular drive system - an electromechanical dosing drive.
