Poli Hi Solidur Inc. said it added a new high-temperature grade to its Tivar ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene lineup.
Tivar HOT is targeted to industrial environments where temperatures range up to 275° F, nearly 100° F higher than standard UHMW PE, the Fort Wayne, Ind., company claimed. The material achieves this by slowing the oxidation rate, and thereby degradation rates, at high temperatures.
Poly Hi Solidur said the Food and Drug Administration-compliant material is well-suited to conveyor systems in food-processing and packaging industries, especially in applications frequently exposed to chemical washing, such as poultry and meat plants.
