Colortronic Inc. of Runnemede, N.J., has developed an on-line gravimetric blending system for the wood-plastic composite market.
Rob Edwards, president and chief executive officer, said as the wood-plastic product offerings increase, processors will need to have flexibility to change production quickly.
The FPC system will have up to four gravimetric stations, depending on application requirements. Each one will be able to handle up to eight ingredients.
Colortronic specially designed the main blending station to handle cellulosic materials, such as wood flour.
A secondary, eight-ingredient loss-in-weight station is aimed at applications that require downstream introduction of additives or for coextrusion applications.
