Corotec Corp.'s Plasma-Jet corona treating system uses an electrical discharge to boost the surface wettability of molded and extruded plastic parts before the application of labels or graphics.
Recent applications include toothbrush handles, car parts, blow molded bottles and tubing and catheters. A new option is a ceramic discharge head, which eliminates the arc tracking due to high voltage and contamination. The heads also don't degrade from heat and ozone.
Corotec is based in Farmington, Conn.
