At the JEC Composites Show in Paris, Automated Dynamics announced a new high-speed machine to fabricate pressure vessels from thermoplastic composites.
A patent is pending.
The machinery company in Schenectady, N.Y., modified existing filament winding equipment. The process requires no curing, eliminates volatile organic compounds and takes up half the floor space of a filament winding machine, according to the firm.
Also at the trade show, Automated Dynamics introduced a 12-tow thermoset fiber placement head, designed for making aerospace and industrial parts. Each tow can be started and cut individually while the head is in operation on the tool.
