Kreyenborg Industries of Lawrenceville, Ga., is marketing a compact production line for recycling PET bottle flake.
The flake is transported from a silo or a bag to a patented infrared dryer, which does crystallization and drying in one process. The wavelength of the radiation is adjusted to the specific material and humidity. After a relatively short residence time, the material leaves the dryer.
The hot, dried material is fed into a thermally insulated feeding system via a rotary valve. The material is kept in constant motion with special mixing screws. A vacuum is applied to remove any remaining volatile substances. The material then is continuously discharged into the extruder.
After extrusion, the melt gets filtered and goes through an underwater pelletizer.
