Rapid Prototyping Corp. in Longmont, Colo., said its Ionic Fusion process impregnates harder metals onto injection molds, extending mold life.
The process allows metals to be applied at low temperatures of about 158° F, to ensure that no changes happen in the main substrate. The mechanical and electrical characteristics of the metal can be changed using Rapid Prototyping's metal deposition parameters such as conduction, anti-oxidation, anti-wear, low friction and low surface wear for molding abrasive materials.
