O'Connell Machine & Tool Co. has developed a horizontal trimmer for larger containers and neck-to-neck containers.
The machine uses pick-and-place technology, so unusual and large-neck containers are picked off the continuous conveyors from the blow molder and put into the indexing trimmer.
“What has been considered normal for picking and dropping cannot handle many unusual sizes and shapes,” said Joe Kozar, president of the company in Toledo, Ohio. “With pick and place, we have an advantage. We are faster and more versatile.”
The trim station is larger than stations on other trimmers, so the O'Connell machine can handle more bottles at the same time.
