RORBAS, SWITZERLAND-Screw and barrel supplier Xaloy Inc. is closing down its plant near Zurich, Switzerland, and moving the work to two other plants in Seabrook, N.H., and Chon Buri, Thailand.
Xaloy will lay off 60 of the 73 workers in Rorbas in March. While production will end, the location will still handle service.
``The factory in Rorbas was too old and had poor layout,'' said Gunther Hoyt, vice president of sales and marketing at Xaloy in Pulaski, Va. Xaloy is owned by Saurer AG of Zurich.
Earlier this year, Xaloy opened an assembly plant in Remscheid, Germany, but Hoyt said that was not connected to the closing.
