Ford Motor Co. invested $33 million to convert from reaction injection molding to injection molded thermoplastic polyolefins at its Utica, Mich. plant. Ford aimed for higher quality and reduced part weight for auto bumpers and fascia.
The Canadian Plastics Industry Association said regional issues would be key to the newly formed organization that replaced three predecessor associations. CPIA's membership has since grown more than a third to about 420.
