Plastics News is partnering with the Industrial Designers Society of America to present a design-oriented conference on the middle day of the Sept. 17-19 Plastics Encounter Indianapolis, and the collaboration will spill over onto the show floor.
The conference session, at the Indiana Convention Center, will zero in on materials selection, novel case studies and key design issues such as collaborative design and cross-disciplinary communication. Various winners of IDSA's 2002 IDEA product-design awards, to be announced in late June, will appear in a gallery on the show floor. The display will showcase some of today's most innovative designs and plastics applications.
The conference's design day will comprise half of the two-day Encounter conference. The Sept. 17 sessions, produced in conjunction with Mid-America Plastics Partners Inc., will involve presentations and roundtable-style discussions focusing on business and management issues for processors. Likely topics will include growth and survival strategies, lean manufacturing, customer relationships, safety and work-force development.
