Style Solutions Inc. is adding more automation to its production of polyurethane millwork.
The cast molder, based in rural Archbold about 40 miles west of Toledo, Ohio, has added a computer numerically controlled router, allowing it to increase production 50 percent. Officials also are looking at moving into different processes for higher-volume parts, including balusters and posts.
``It's the first time we're trying rotational molding to get product fill-out,'' marketing services director Steve Roth said March 13.
SBR Inc. of Parkersburg, W.Va., bought Style Solutions in 2000. Today Style Solutions makes more than 4,000 products. Recent additions include miterless crown molding and suspended ceiling systems. Between the Archbold location and a facility in China, it produces an average of 2,000 pieces per day.
SBR also owns Simonton Windows in Parkersburg, and Hy-Lite Products Inc., an acrylic block manufacturer in Beaumont, Calif.
Spokeswoman Kathy Ziprik said Style Solutions has enjoyed double-digit sales growth for the past several years, but she did not disclose actual figures.
``Consumer demand for a no-maintenance house, including everything from vinyl siding to vinyl windows to decking, has helped moldings and trims blossom and grow in the marketplace,'' Ziprik said.
Style Solutions was called Style-Mark Inc. until its name change last year.
