Dri-Air Industries Inc. of East Windsor, Conn., is helping medical molders maintain cleanliness through the drying cycle.
``We took on a project for a customer and found that there was a market for the dryer,'' said Manual Salinas, regional sales manager for Dri-Air Industries, which exhibited at MassPlastics in Fitchburg.
Dri-Air designed a dryer for the medical-parts industry, using stainless-steel parts in all areas of contact to prevent contamination from rust or corrosion during drying. The dryer also is equipped with a HEPA air filter.
The new dryer features a patented, four-bed design for fast drying and uses a microprocessor controller to adjust the regeneration cycle in real time. Other features include an integrated loading system and capabilities for low- or high-temperature drying.
Salinas said Dri-Air offers standard drying systems to the plastic industry, but also does custom work.
Besides the medical molding dryer, Dri-Air also showed a dryer for automated two-shot, two-color molding. The dual-hopper dryer handles two resins simultaneously, offering individual control of drying temperatures and times. Each also has an adjustable volume control.
