Injection molder Siegel-Robert Inc. Automotive & Diversified Products is closing an Arkansas facility while preparing to open a new site in Tennessee.
An Arkansas Department of Economic Development spokeswoman said the St. Louis-based automotive supplier has filed notice that it will close its factory in Wilson, Ark., laying off about 250 workers.
The Governor's Dislocated Worker Task Force will help employees in Wilson prepare for the shutdown and seek a new occupant for the building.
Meanwhile, the business is about to open a new, 402,000-square-foot plant in Newbern, Tenn., with as many as 450 employees, according to the West Tennessee Industrial Association.
The company produces a variety of automotive trim parts and listed $500 million in sales for 2001.
Company executives did not respond to requests for comment.
