Nypro Inc. has launched a $10 million expansion at its Clinton headquarters.
The firm is investing $2 million for a new clean room to make a pharmaceutical delivery device. The room, formerly an inventory area, will have high-speed automation, integrated molding cells and vertical insert molding, said President Brian Jones.
The project, which started last month, should be completed in 60 days and has not interfered with any nearby production, he said.
It is just the latest change to an 850,000-square-foot complex on 18 acres that in the past century was home to Bigelow Carpet Co. Nypro has retrofitted 90 percent of the building over the years.
Next month, Nypro will start work on a two-story, 110,000-square-foot technical center in an area that had housed a baseball field, Jones said.
The company negotiated to move the field to another site to accommodate the $8 million project. Jones anticipates that project will take eight months.
He said the new building will be a showcase and an area to develop applications.
