David Jukes, a vice president at plastics e-marketplace Omnexus, is leaving the dot-com company to become chief executive officer of European resin distributor Distrupol Ltd.
Jukes will join Chertsey, England-based Distrupol on Aug. 1. Former Distrupol CEO Steve Bradbury left the company at the end of March.
Royal Vopak NV of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, purchased distributor Ellis & Everard plc in 2000 in a deal that included Distrupol. Jukes, a former E&E vice president, helped build the company's polymers business both in Europe and the United States when he joined the company in 1991.
``I'm going back to run the business I helped dream up,'' Jukes said in a June 27 telephone interview. ``I'm leaving Omnexus reluctantly in many ways. There are not many opportunities I would take to leave, but this is one of them.''
Omnexus has not named a replacement for Jukes. He currently serves as Omnexus' vice president of commercial organization North America from the company's U.S. headquarters in Atlanta.
Jukes joined Omnexus in August 2000, eight weeks before Vopak agreed to buy E&E. He had worked as vice president of corporate development for E&E's U.S. subsidiary, Performance Polymers Inc. of Leominster, Mass.
Distrupol operates in 11 European countries and records sales of about $250 million annually, Jukes said.
