The Left Hook, a patented mixing element from Scientific Process & Research Inc., now can be used in injection molding machines.
Ron Klein, president of the firm in North Brunswick, N.J., originally developed the Left Hook for blow molding and extrusion. Now the mixing section can be milled into an injection screw.
The Left Hook maximizes melt homogeneity to virtually eliminate unmelted material and improve dispersion of color, additives and dissimilar resin blends, while operating at lower melt temperatures with low shear.
The mixer creates a continuous, cascading action that gives a high degree of turbulence without excessive shear.
