Eastman Kodak Co. has formed Kodak Global Manufacturing Services to produce materials, chemicals and parts for others. Catherine Bonser was named director of the new business unit.
The unit is marketing its technical expertise with cast and extruded supports, thin multilayer web coating and converting, high-purity fine chemicals and submicro-particulate manufacturing.
Kodak will provide upfront engineering, design and tooling services for injection molding of plastics and small precision parts, but does not plan to offer plastic parts. Kodak will supply cellulose acetate or polyester as thin-film supports.
Rochester-based Kodak had 2001 sales of $13.2 billion in photography, commercial imaging, display and optical components and health-care imaging.
