GLS compounds take soft-touch approach
GLS Corp. aims its new elastomers at the growing soft-touch market in housewares, sporting goods and other markets.
RP6600 compounds, based on Kraton polymers, provide good aesthetics and are easy to process, according to GLS of McHenry, Ill. High flow of the general-purpose injection molding compounds is suited to thin-wall parts. Fast cycle time and good overmold adhesion to polypropylene are other benefits, GLS said.
Four new, Food and Drug Administration-compliant grades range in hardness from 26-56 Shore A. Another grade at 45 Shore A is for uses requiring brilliant colors and high tensile strength.

Ashley Polymers has economy-grade resins
Ashley Polymers Inc. expanded its offerings of economy-grade acetal resins with weatherable materials.
The ultraviolet-light-stabilized Ashlene grades are available with medium- or long-term stability levels, according to the New York firm. R190H is a natural copolymer suited to auto and recreational applications. R190H2 is geared to irrigation, auto and recreational parts.
