Plast-Control Inc. said its Advanced Control System for film extrusion management and gauge control has new “material minimizing” software, called MMS.
MMS continually monitors and controls the amount of resin actually in the entire extrusion line, including the extruder, dosing and vacuum-loading systems. When enough resin is in the system to complete a job, MMS automatically shuts off the supply, so that a bare minimum of resin remains.
The feature significantly reduces material waste and cuts changeover times. Matt Bangert, general manager of Plast-Control, said the Newburyport, Mass., company developed MMS to meet demands for short runs and rapid transitions. Through the Plast-Control Central software networking system, the company can link all ACS systems in a plant via the Ethernet, to communicate all production data to management.
