All Service Plastic Molding Inc., a Minco Group unit, is investing about $1.5 million in equipment, labor and space in Dayton to meet blossoming business commitments, especially with Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
``We have been developing these relationships for 21/2 years,'' Gary Deaton, Minco manager of marketing and manufacturing, said by telephone. ``With the new model year, they are coming to fruition.''
Deaton projects that 2002 sales for ASPM will exceed $20 million. ``We've picked up several million dollars of business this year,'' he said.
ASPM recently leased 12,000 square feet of space two blocks from its main facility and intends to have the new location operational by mid-August.
The firm is installing two new injection molding machines - a 950-ton Toshiba and a 720-ton Mitsubishi - plus three 500-ton presses. In addition, ASPM has 27 presses in Dayton and six in Clay City, Ky. Clamping forces range from 50-950 tons. The unit now employs 143 in Dayton and 12 in Clay City and is hiring 30 more for the around-the-clock operation.
