North America Packaging Corp. will install two more blow molding machines in Cidra, Puerto Rico, during the next four months.
The firm will take delivery of two machines made by SIG Blowtec GmbH & Co. KG of Troisdorf, Germany. One is a new machine, the other a refurbished model, according to David Ray, Nampac vice president of marketing. He did not disclose cost of the machinery.
The equipment will boost Nampac's undisclosed capacity at Cidra by 30 percent, the Raleigh-based company recently announced. The expansion project also will provide the operation with four new package designs in Nampac's closed-head plastic pail product line.
Cidra mainly molds closed- and open-head pails with capacity of 21/2-6 gallons. The expansion is prompted by increased exports by local soft drink majors. The customers package soft drink syrup concentrate in Nampac pails.
Cidra is one of Nampac's nine North American production plants. Nampac recently announced it will open a 10th plant, an injection molding facility, late this year in Cedar City, Utah.
