FlexTech Packaging Ltd. expects to add a third Hosokawa Alpine American blown film line to meet growth in barrier films.
Cincinnati-based FlexTech plans to order a seven-layer line this year and probably will buy a fourth Alpine multilayer system next year, said Eric Hatfield, FlexTech managing director of technology. The firm's two existing lines are nearly sold out, and FlexTech has ambitious sales programs planned for the near term, Hatfield said by telephone.
FlexTech's second Alpine line started in January. Last year, FlexTech President Bob Bellafronto said the second line, which included an orienter, was part of a $5 million expansion. Hatfield did not disclose more recent budget estimates.
The 5-year-old firm's sales in food packaging and other barrier markets are growing, according to Hatfield. He did not disclose sales of the private company, but said it employs about 30.
