Malpack Polybag Co. Ltd. increased capacity for multilayer cast stretch film in late July with the launch of a Battenfeld Gloucester line.
The Ajax firm installed the line, its third Battenfeld Gloucester cast stretch system, to meet rising demand in a variety of industries, according to Tony Galea, vice president of operations. The family-owned business put the line in its stretch film division plant in Ajax. Malpack also makes high and low density polyethylene bags at another Ajax plant and in nearby Scarborough, Ontario.
Galea did not disclose the cost of the new system and related equipment.
The cast film line can process standard and metallocene PE. Malpack's new system can produce film 147 inches wide at speeds of up to 2,000 feet per minute, according to equipment supplier SMS Plastics Technology.
