Plaston Inc. is targeting the U.S. market for air-treatment products.
The Widnau, Switzerland-based injection molder made its debut appearance at the National Hardware Show, held Aug. 11-13 in Chicago. The firm has a warehouse in Camp Hill, Pa., and a sales office in Fort Lee, N.J., but no current plans to establish a manufacturing presence.
``We started actively selling in January,'' said David Lewis, business development and marketing manager for North America. ``Plaston's focus for the long term has been the European market. [But] the U.S. is much more advanced than Europe in air treatment. Having a sales office to drive that is critical. For us to be successful, we're investing for the long term.''
The 45-year-old firm eventually plans to grow its automotive division in the United States.
