Coperion Holding GmbH has announced it will close a 44-employee sales office for Waeschle resin and chemical conveying equipment in Braunschweig, Germany.
Coperion will move the business activities currently done in Braunschweig to the main Waeschle factory in Weingarten, Germany.
Some of the 44 employees will be transferred to Weingarten, but many will be laid off.
Coperion, based in Kostanz, is working with the employees' council on a compensation package.
Coperion announced it was planning a restructuring in late July, but the Waeschle office closing is the first specific action taken.
Coperion also makes Werner & Pfleiderer compounding equipment and Buss kneaders.
